Still On My Own Two Feet

And by gosh, did I ever need someone to tell me off the way Denyse hasn't had to yet.

I wheelchaired into the kitchen s'morning, had breakfast, had my boots fitted and at that point I left my 'chair in't kitchen. All day I have been using it when in the kitchen or out with Paul. The rest of the time I have been walking everywhere, even without my splint on or my Bioness device, which I gave to Denyse to return to the owners t'other day

Bathing no wheelchair

Well I have just bathed and gone for my nap with my 'chair being stuck in't kitchen. Now I wasn't as scared doing it as I was yesterday, so summat must be improving

And I am walking everywhere indoors again today, I think it is slightly easier than yesterday.

So hopefully that is a pattern

Out

Then s'afternoon me and Alex turned left at the end of the street and headed through miles of beautiful countryside until we arrived in Saundersfoot. So then we got out of the car, loaded me into wheelchair (which I hadn't been in since breakfast time, not even walking out to the car) and went for an explore. On the way we discovered A Traditional Sweety Shop which took me back a year or 17 and I had to buy some some soft, not chokable, not going the wrong way down my throat, sweets

And before we left we had to go and but an Ice Cream

And after 2 days of antibiotics my right leg seems a lot smaller/uninfected again

Then we had Freya down for tea eventually and it was very pleasant. And because it was a Friday we had chips again

On My Own Two Feet

Lordy, so I have just left my 'chair in the kitchen and later walked from the living room, to my bedroom and then to the bathroom, had a bath and walked from there to my bedroom to have a nap

What a day

So first thing s'morning we drove to the hospital and I walked in and saw Denyse and the doctor that I had the appointment with. He said he has been asked to check out my glandular system but on the grounds of today he thought I was fine. But he is gonna make an appointment for me to have loadsa blood tests so we can be sure. Then I was due at gym but felt too gobsmacked by the days appointment to go. So we went to Aardvark and did a weeks shopping and then to Morrisons to look at snack foods which I am allowed as Denyse brought me a big list of dangerous snacks, like most of the ones I like

AND we are gonna have a special treat tonight as Freya is coming for dinner as "She forgot" yesterday

Cream Egg Lollies

And I have just had the first of my new batch of Cream Egg Lollies and WOW they are lovely. It's more than a week since I had one

So I had a sitting outside a team meeting which took ages as the newbies needed a 3 month assessment but they were all positive about me. Then Denyse made me agree to walk everywhere in the house which I needed her to do as I have become too attached to my 'chair

Then Denyse and Paul looked at my leg and said "Go to Drs", I started to panic as I have an appointment at hospital tomorrow, but it turns out that this appointment isn't for fitting my NHS Bioness device, that it next week, this is just to check out why I fainted t'other week.

So I have a week before the Bioness appt, I should be better by then, so they can fit me

And so my entire team, workers and boss, are here to have a team meeting

Out For a Drive

So we went out for a drive tonight, up my street, turned opposite, went onto back-roads and went up and back downhill for miles, it was rather nice

It's In The Way

Aargh, with my new t-shirt my bumbag(1) is in the way, you can't read all of it

(1) Which I need as only one hand can work in pockets etc

Petty Cash Shopping

So we had to nip to Wilkinson's shop and spend petty cash on tea, coffee and sugar for my team

Aargh, then 10 minutes after we came back the staff printer ran out of ink so we had to go to another shop in Carmarthen and stock up

And we disabled some program to keep the ads from appearing on my site but had to switch it back on again to see video's

GYMing

So we went to gym s'morning a few minutes late but we made it. It went well, I wasn't sitting down at all.

As we were leaving one of the other women in the class approached me and commented on how much better I am getting every week.

Then afterwards we decided to head into town and have a coffee at Cafe Nero which was nice, just sitting watching the world go by

No Interweb

So I was eating breakfast, tried to get The Guardian up on the iPad, it said "No, internet connection". I looked, all the light's on the router were lit, so I went to my PC and pressed "Get mail". It waited..... and waited..... and waited.

So I nipped back to the router, pressed "Restart" and 5 minutes later I was reading The Guardian on the iPad once more

O&A

Then s'afternoon me & Gareth traveled about 30 miles to check out The Queens Hall, Narberth to judge accessibility etc. It seems fine, recently done to wider doors etc, disabled loos etc so I think we might go and see one of the comedy acts and/or one of the bands that play there soon

Afterwards we nipped across the road to see the folk that book, then we pottered around town for a bit then we went back to the hall to have a local ice cream, which I was rather impressed with

Bathing

And yesterday, when I got up and out of the bath I had to say to Edwina about how impressed I was with the lifting me up and down into the bath device

Wheelychair Fixer

And the man we had to phone last week came out s'morning to "fix" my wheelchair. So he is gonna order 4 new wheels and will come back and fit 'em within a week (hopefully)

So effectively it will be a new chair with an old middle prop bit....

Minor Shopping

So today at lunchtime I used the last of my juice. I thought "Oh, I won't get more until Friday, better go today" so we went to (deep shame)Tesco's(/ds) because we weren't sure that Morrison's sell organic juice - I usually buy mine in Aardvark, but that was shut today

So we (global warming) drove there (/gw), only bought 1 litre of organic apple juice then came home again

Ho Hum

So far today the most exciting event to have occurrd has been wnning at Solitaire

Freya and her chum

So Freya and her friend, Maia, who is one of our (mine and Julia's) old friends daughter came over tonight. And mostly ignored me and got stuck in to the WWW

Out & About

So me & Alex headed into town today. First of all we nipped to the vegan fair which was new in town, it was nice and worthwhile and I had some vegan cheese and ice cream.

Then we nipped into Marks to pick up some hot dog rolls (as they didn't sell any big enough in Morrisons) then we nipped to Morrisons and did my weeks shoopping as I will be waiting in for the wheelchair fixer on Monday

Out

So we will be out in a bit, going to see this, then, at a guess, we might go to Morrisons and do Mondays shopping as a) there is a wheelchair fixer coming to see me on Monday morning, and b) my MOS who is helping me tomorrow is a bit less "listen to Neil"-able

Crisps

And when I was in Aardvark s'afternoon^H^H^H^H^Hs'morning I bought some not potato but beetroot and cauliflower crisps. I haven't tasted them yet but they look good

I have tasted them now and they taste very good

And gosh it seems so different nipping to Aardvark early, there's no rush in the afternoon

Just wow my right leg seems to be being so much better so I went off round and round today quite happily during GYM

Early Shopping

So this week we did my Aardvark shopping much earlier in the day, before lunchtime and my gym session. It worked, it wasn't too busy and everything was in stock and long enuf dated.

And more to the point it was the first time I had been there in a number of months without my Bioness device on my right knee and I had to concentrate more on walking but I could walk, no problem

Out&About

So we are going to Café Iechyd Da in half an hour or so, for dinner and a night out

And it was a bit excellent tonight....

And I asked the barmaid for a whiskey and she remembered my past and brought me a Whiskey Mac. Mmmmm, I had 3 by the end of the night

Technology

Good lord. Like really good lord. So Small brought in today a new device that he is trying out. It's a Mobile Broadband gizmo and so we took it out to test it. So we got to where neither of us had wifi, switched it on and plugged in my phone and my iPad. So to test it we were sat in the car with 3 different songs simultaneously playing on Youtube and there was still room for more. Gosh it was as fast as f*ck

Then s'morning we went to Trysordy and again I was sat at the PC entering data. But I was somewhat distracted by Ruth who called in too

Quiet Day

Not too busy a day. That SmallPaul is coming in a bit, then taking me to the doctors to pick up a repeat 'script, then off to Trysordy to do some good for the community etc.

Then eventually it is Iechdy Da tonight for the first fun in ages

Dinner

So for dinner tonight we had some steamed spuds(1) which were delicious and some Clearspot Tofu burger thingies which it said "Eat hot or cold" and contained no heating instructions so I decided to try 'em cold. Which was a a mistake. I would bite into it, and for the first chew would think "No, this is wrong..." before I realised that they were actually delicious. But I couldn't cope with them being cold, it just wasn't right

Then today we nipped to More Reason's To Shop At.... in order to buy more salad and cheesy rolls for lunch

And some Cadbury's Caramel we ended up with too

Aargh, I had got some spyware from somewhere which loaded itself as my home page no matter how many times I changed it, and did much other out of sight naughtiness. So hopefully I have managed to delete/uninstal all the different parts of it

Google NO

So as I am a bit UBERparanoid about the info that Google are keeping on my browsing habits I re-main-browsered to using Mozilla Firefox instead of Google Chrome

And today I learnt how to, using Irfanview (which I usually do) how to attach 2 photographs together and make a panorama (as it's called)

Shopping

So me and Alex nipped to town for a "look around", it was all nice. So in one shop I bought another pet for my front garden and we went to Cowpots and had an ice cream, which was actually very nice

Bionessless

So today I went to gym without my Bioness device to aid my walking for the first time in ages as we have retired it. I was a bit scared but it went well, extra concentration was required but my foot stayed flat for almost the whole session

And Sam did comment at the beginning that I was walking quicker without the device

So gosh, I will need some more Botox injections if this carries on

And because I wasn't wearing my Binesss I made do with an old splint which I have never worn because when it arrived summat else took it's place

With Them

Soi then we went out for a dinner with Sam, my first born, Emma, his girl and Paul, my driver. We had an excellent time, they both seem aware of stuff that I had nearly forgotten etc and we had an excellent dinnr

And Sam who hasn't seen me for 9 months or so commentedd on how much better I am moving and how much better I am looking in terms of fatness

At last it works

So today I finally figured out how to use the system I installed another version of and it will remove duplicate messages easily. As all my posts to Ixion arrive doubled up and loads of us have had a look I am pleased that this works

Monday Shopping

And we had to go to Morrison's and spend some petty cash on bog roll for them, bleach etc

And some small chap walked up to and knocked my front door s'morning. I didn't recognise him as it is so long since I have seen him bit it was SmallPaul back from holiday

And I enjoyed another game of Solitaire yesterday

Email At Cricket

And when I was going out all day I switched off my PC when I was going out. As it was off all the days Ixion emails came to me phone. I read them at odd moments in the day and in the car on the way home. As I read them on phone they did not arrive here which I guess was OK as long as I figure how to forward precious copies here but I think that's the way. If I want to have it here, on my PC, I shall forward it, when my PC is back up and running

And they finished the match and won by roughly 80 runs. It was the first time I have seen one of these limited overs matches and it was actually reasonably good. A bit strange having to wear my glasses but they did help

Variety Dinner

So as a kind of dinner that we don't have every week I cooked an omelette(1) tonight, with some supernoodles. They were both delicious but I am not sure how together they go

(1) With onion, fried first, mushroom, cheese but not the tomato I bought yesterday for that purpose

Nipping Out

So I said to Edwina "Can we nip to Tesco's and try and get some of those lollies that I like?". He said "No, 1 day last week when u couldn't get them in Morrison's we went to Tesco's and they did not have any either, they must have stopped making them or summat"

So I said "Can we go and look for summat else please?"

So he took me and I got some Cadbury's Nuts About Caramel lollies which while being nice aren't quite as nice a the original, but I will have to grin and bear it

Onion

So I was looking in my freezer for the bag of frozen chopped onion yesterday. Couldn't see it, couldn't remember throwing away the bag as it was finished either so I called Alex, he looked, neither of us could see it. So emergency shopping trip to Morrison's, bought some

Well, my Mum phoned me tonight and said "Can u get a card for Ian (your brotherin law, who helped u out loads when u moved here) for his 60th birthday. Needs posting tomorrow morning" so I thought "Nip to Morrison's", then I thought as I am going to cricket on Sunday I won't be able to do my weeks shopping so may as well get my weeks shopping tonight so I did

Confusion and rearrangement

So I had to go to the Drs s'morning and tried loads of breathing into the tube for a woman called Jacqui who not only tested me but responded positively to flirts.

She said "We will write to you and tell u the outcomes but I want to see you again, it's nice"

After that we tried shopping earlier in Aardvark and it worked, and they have their veg delivered on a Thursday so at a guess from next week it has been changed on my timetable to shopping Friday morning as there is no time after gym(1) to eat, bath, nap and go to Aardvark so I think next week we will shop in't morning

(1) Gym, yes I have been much too busy to go today.

Then s'evening I was guested by my very clever daughter. Gosh, is she mine as she is so clever, 6A*, 2A and 4B's. She can't be mine

So I had a dreadful nightmare last night, it involved a body that no-one noticed so they just drove over it etc then, after that, I couldn't get back to sleep so I was in bed for about 3 hours awake before my alarm clock got me up

So Sara(h) the physio came for her monthly visit and a) Walked 2/3 of the way up the road with me, then b) Did loads and loads of stretches

So me and Gareth nipped off to Wilkinson's to fetch more gloves for doing my feet and we also found some Old Fashioned Sweets which I bought. I haven't tried them yet but by lord, my memories......

Well I have tried 'em now, I am on my fourth from the bag now and what can I say, I remembered them as being nice and I was right

Oh dear. So we decided to go to the supermarket tonight to get my weeks shopping. We were ¼ of the way there when my MOS said "Oh, look at the time, they will be shut" so in the end we dragged ourselves to Tesco's and bought loads there

And gosh but it is rainy and very windy today, the top of the bird feeder has just blown off and I had to send my MOS to fetch it back

Then we nipped out to Aardvark. But first we called in at the chemist which said they would deliver my cream s'morning, and I sat in't car while Gareth went in and came back out 10 mins later having just spoken to the delivery driver who was on his way, said "Next door" to Gareth so we got it when we came back

Then we nipped to Aardvark done my weeks shopping etc etc as usual.

Then we nipped into Wilkinson's to buy some printer paper for the staff PC (and  some Honeycomb for me, but we seem to have bought everything they own in that dept)

Then we called in to Morrison's to pick up some blueberries. While we were there I thought "Ah, need a few couscous" but found it was half price so bought a load 

Then I thought "Oh, Timmy too" so went looking for super noodles too, found them buy 5 get 1 free so we added 6 to my basket too.

In general I will still need to go back on Sunday and pick up my weeks top up but spent nearly £20 in there a few days before

Gym

And gym was as crazy and hard work as it has been for a number of weeks now

And while we were heading for gym today we bumped into Alex Court an old friend of mine,  who was working for Leonrd Cheshire last time I saw him

And next Friday I need to be somewhere half an hour before Alex is due to come in, but Gareth (who he is taking over from) said "No, because I am going on holiday that day we have already arranged for him to come in an hour early"

And I have won again now. Gosh my wins aren't coming close together but it happened

Gosh, sitting at the breakfast table I have just lost 3 games of solitaire. It is now Thursday morning, I played loads yesterday and I haven't won a game since Tuesday night

Dinner Time Strangeness

And for dinner tonight, which was delicious, we had Quorn fillets with couscous which tasted lovely separately, the usual way I eat my dinner, but actually tasted at their best if you got a small piece of fillet on your fork then scooped some couscous on next to it, together

So we are getting ready for my early gym session today. It is just after handover so my foot will have to be done BEFORE handover to my MOS for today

Gosh, that all went well but it was 2 minutes after 10.30 when we arrived and they had already started. All day my Bioness didn't seem to be working properly, dunno, but....

Cycling

And we have just been to the summer cycling temp place and it was OK. I had to stop early and complain as my right foot wasn't positioned properly but hopefully that won't happen next time. They were short of bikes tho as they hadn't brought too many to the temp place and we arrived just after a load of visitors

And the postman brought my treat from Treat.com s'morning. It said on their site "First delivery free, cost after that" so last night, after they told me they had sent my freebie I went online and spent ages looking for ways to unsubscribe.

It wasn't easy but I found it in the end

And I have eaten 2 of the 4 packets so far and on both of them if said "Only x calories contained" which was nice

Won Twice

And recently my life has been full of games, Solitaire and Backgammon mostly. I have won then both in the past but tonight I played one, won it, played the other and won it too (which is quite unusual for backgammon, I usually lose that)!!!

So I said to Edweena that there is a new poster on my wall saying "Neil should be out every day" so where shall we go today, but he said "It's a weekend day" so we went nowhere

Gosh, I am watching Bridget Jones's Diary on't telly ATM and it is rather excellent

I have been concentrating for over an hour already, still concentrating

So then at lunchtime I had the first of my 2 groovy classes and walked round and round for an hour.

Then afterwards I came back here, had lunch got stuck into gaming on my iPad then looked at my watch and panicked. I ran to bed, had a nap then nipped to Aardvark and did my weeks shopping before it shut

Emotional

Then over breakfast I found a track name and listened to it. Gosh, it became a bit emotional, it turns out that the track was one off the first 12" record I owned.

Then I clicked a link to an interview and just generally was young again

Then later in the day I heard Abba at gym. I sort of thought "Gosh, my first Xmas records, Abba - Super Dooper and AC/DC - For Those About To Rock"
