Oh dear

Well I woke up, thought "Aaaah", got flipping up etc, at........ at 5.30 this morning

And it occurred to me half way through my dinner that I was using both hands to cut and eat it. I think it was the first time since my accident when I was trying to be posh enough, so I was using both hands

And both my parents arrived in a hire car this evening, then we went out for a lovely meal in town.

And no~one commented on my haircut, dunno if they are used to it or are bored commenting.

But it did occur to me in the car on the way back that I hadn't needed a pee since before I left, I commented on this and my mother said "Gosh, yes, remember when you were in Bath, you needed a pee every 15 minutes then"

So now I am waiting. At about 4.30 this afternoon my parents are coming over because I have 2 assessments next week. They are staying until Thursday.

Well I got up s'morning at 8.00 o'clock, went into the newly cleaned because my father is coming to visit later today kitchen, got my breakfast and dropped the packet of muesli which spilled everywhere.

And she cleaned the last bits of muesli that was beyond me, my kitchen is clean again

So this afternoon I was again thinking of a typing device to replace my Psion and in the end I asked a MOS who said "Can't you use your phone?", I said "No, I've looked" and gave up.

Later I was looking at my phone again and I thought "Oh god, 'drafts'", looked a bit more and I can type messages to myself and save them. It is perhaps a little harder to read, you need to open and check your drafts but it may well prove valuable.

So now my bum-bag seems really empty without the Psion (Which is good BTW)

And a member of staff came into my room, said "OK, I will phone BT and find out why your landline phone doesn't work", first of all found out that I can make calls but not receive them, was on the phone to BT for an hour and a half, switched off my PC, switched it back on, resetting everything, and in the end said "Hooray" because my landline phone now rings properly, at last

Oh dear

So up at 8.00 again. But in my bedroom are sitting loadsa clothes that I was s'posed to get showered and change into last night but I was at MacBeth so showering today.... (But I had my breakfast barefoot so I won't need to change my socks too)

And for some reason my toothache, which has been severe(1), seems to have got better, by itself, spontaneously

(1) I have an appointment next week with the dentist but nearly asked for an advance

So this evening a member off staff asked me if I wanted to go see MacBeth tonight, so I said "Yes" going out later

And as I am going out to the theater I got 3 tissues, folded them, and put them in my right pocket, it is 7½ years since I used that pocket

And good lord but it was excellent. Especially as I no longer watch TV or video films but real actors were acting, excellent

And I am walking up and down outside without my 'stick

Well now I have had my mohawk cut, trimmed, but my unshaved bit is now longer than my hair.

This morning, when I went outdoors, it was actually steamy when I breathed. Good lord, I had forgotten that this happens, it was 7½ years, at least, since I saw it last

Well, up at 7.30 today, a lie in!!! "Dan, Dan, The Hair-cutting Man" sez he will come and do mine about 11 o'clock, he hasn't forgotten

Well I tried to play my geetar today. It was still way too hard but it was easier than before

So here I am sitting down trying to stretch my right leg. ATM it won't go as far back as my left leg so I have been trying to make it stretch more but it flipping hurts to do so but as I insist on getting better........

So this morning I woke up at 7.00AM and needed a pee. So I got up and did that then I thought "Oh, I can go back to bed and lie there awake or get up" so I got up very early again

And my son Sam came over to see me today as he is leaving in a few days to travel back to university in Manchester

So today I was sitting outside, every 10 or 15 minutes I would get up and walk without my stick up and down outside my flat

Well I woke up and got up at 7 this morning.....

Then this afternoon my daughter came to visit me. Which was special.

So after I am walking so much with no stick I thought perhaps an emergency only stick would be useful. Dunno, I will have to wait and see when it arrives

So I got up this morning at about 8 o'clock, went into the kitchen and made breakfast etc, no problem. When I finished my first mouthful of breakfast suddenly I really needed a pooh. It was strange and sudden (shrug) so I had to go to the loo before I drank my coffee

Out tonight

And a member of staff said "Are you going to Headway tonight?", I said "Is it tonight?" and tried to say that taxi's are much too dear but she said "Person from here want's to go and he has a car, wanna lift?" so I shall go in pair tonight

Good lord, it was a bit strange but it was good being out, and I think Anthony is gonna want a lift every month (even tho he can't talk) so I will be able to blag a lift

And someone said to me "Where's your 'chair?" but I walked tonight, and good lord, we parked across the road, half way up a car park, bleedin' miles but I walked

Shopping

And I managed to do my shopping, got it all, remembered juice this week, still didn't need a pee when I came back so obviously summat is better

I woke up hours ago, and in the end got up ¾ of an hour before my alarm clock went off.

National Botanic

And this afternoon I had another visit to the National Botanic Garden which is right over near where we used to live, and god it's impressive, like really. I have been there before (not before my accident) but I think last time I was there with my parents whereas today was just a relaxing visit but WOW

And I went without my wheelchair today. I walked in, queued for ages, eventually we went in, then I got one of their wheelchairs to borrow

After I got up s'morning I (it's still a novelty) I changed my bed, washing machine is going as we speak and my new quilt cover looks very posh. That is only the 3rd time IIRC that I have been able to do it myself

And at last summat occurred to me and I was able to make the link to Blog be down from the text above rather than being a long way down. "(BR)"

.... Have Seen The Glory Of The Coming....

Good lord, my eyes are nearly in line. So if I take off my patch and look straight forward if I tilt my head a bit forwards then I see it properly with no distortion. If I change the angle or look to one side then it gets very confusing and I need to close my right eye and just see from the left. But PROGRESS

Gosh, after that walking today I feel absolutely exhausted

And it is now late enough to be worth going to bed, I can now not need to be up at about 5 AM

Well today we went out to play, we explored Kidwelly Quay, Burry Port etc. It was excellent

And I walked further today on an uneven surface, I think it was the most I have managed in 8 years

Well today we had a meeting about me. And how well I am doing, it turned out. And the man who is making my claim was there, he said I might heve my court case winnings by December, wait and see

And 3 people who are here tomorrow visited me this afternoon

And this evening we found the house that I lived in when I had the accident, but I have no memory of living here at all

Well I went to see today

A Dr in Swansea about my eyesight. He did obscure stuff to my right eye, having given me 3 painkillers already, and hopefully summat is different now. We will see in 24-36 hours. Everything looks the same apart from my actual eye which is red. He said we can't look too far ahead but he was a bit confident although it is now a wait and see situation.

So here we are back to "normal" again. I slept in today, didn't wake up 'til 10.15, an unusual occurrence

I have been so buzy today that I haven't had time to BLOG but..... My parents agreed to stop being in my face because the person canceled, so today I was buzy with them too as they are off tomorrow. BUT my FTP has stopped working so 3 or 4 groups of excellent photos wont go up. So shit.

Luckily my parents went off pretty early then I could write up my BLOG etc but nowt now (weep)

So my parents came over to help me with the assessment meeting tomorrow. At 4.55 we were just about to go out for dinner when my Dad's mobile phone rang. It was my brother who is currently doing Dad's role in his business, he had just taken a phone call from the person who was supposed to be here tomorrow saying "Sorry, no meeting tomorrow". At 4.55PM!!! After my parent's had got in a plane, then hired a car, then drove here from the airport,after they have arrived and having a coffee, message from him saying....

So I went to the PDH today and they said that I was finished there for now. But someone is going to inject my right arm so when he can do that I will be back. And I managed not to say "Missing you already" as I left

I'm off in a bit to the Day Hospital for my physio....

And then come back here, meet with my Dad, then tomorrow we are meeting an assessor. And I think it is a leaving me short of cash assessor

It calmed down later but what a lot of issues came up today

So I went shopping to the shop, my bill was ready, she said "£476.32 (or thereabouts)" so I didn't take my cash out but my Visa Debit Card. Which I can't remember ever spending on shopping but she asked me to pin the code, then said "Ta" and gave me my shopping. Another FREE food incident... In the past I used to write cheques, but now......

Got up, had brekky, I am going out to the shop in a bit...

So first of all I went to the Priory Day Hospital for my morning session. As I had an appointment elsewhere in the West Wales General Hospital, at the Surgical Appliances Department, and they told me to buy boots and take the right one in next week

Which I did. We went shopping, couldn't find any boots in accessible Carmarthen shop, as I was on foot, no wheelchair involved, went online and bought some. It was easy to spend that much cash if it's only virtual

And it was strange being back here, having finished, and finished lunch, and got back here already, by 12.25

So it's 4PM now and I am sitting in my wheelchair. Dunno why, it just felt better

So I didn't wake up and get up until 8.15 s'morning. Decadent, an outrageous lie in.

My foot seems to be working again, I got up and walked into the kitchen no problem.

Then when I finished my breakfast I stood up to walk over here to the 'puter chair, which I did, I walked over here and sat down with my 'stick not touching the ground!!

And later I walked out of the kitchen pushing my tray thingy as far as the table then I walked to the bathroom without my stick, went to the loo, and walked back still without 'stick

And my ex~ingrown toenail is so much better, I don't think I realized how shit it was feeling all the time. Even tho I haven't been walking today it is so much groovier, lets wait and see if I am walking tomorrow...

And Sam came over to see me to try and mend my PC today. Strangely enough he wasn't able to fix Office 2007 but instead reinstalled Office 200 on a CD I provided, which I hadn't realized the difference but..... And he is gonna send me a copy of 2007 when he's back in Manchester in 10 days

I am sitting in my wheelchair today as when I tried to walk this morning my right knee felt "Owww". So we will have to see how it is tomorrow

For dinner tonight I thought I have cooked etc for a couple of nights so I will just have oven chips and veggie sausages. So I cooked it all, got a knife and fork out, and went and sat down with it. So I looked at the sausages, I thought now I usually just cut it with my the side of my fork, turn my fork over and eat it.... BUT tonight I am gonna try it with my knife and fork. So I stuck the fork in with my left hand and approached it with my knife that was held in my right hand. It was difficult but I managed. The first meal that I have eaten all of with my right hand in 7¼ years

Drink driver

At the Day Hospital today there was a new chap, he is much worse off than me, pretty much unstable even sitting in his wheelchair. Anyway after lunch I asked him what disease he had had, or what accident. He was out walking one night when a drunk driver hit him. The f*c*er has killed himself instead of going to court but this poor bugger is still alive, just

Ingrown

And after my exercises a person asked me to accompany him as he was going to sort out my ingrown toenail. I nearly panicked but just about managed. First of all he looked at my left big toe, the one that was removed in an operation ages ago and is coming back but all over the place. Firstly he attacked it with a knife then some scissors and it now looks like a short proper toenail. Then he looked at my right big toe, the ingrown one. He cut and chopped and cut a lot more. It now is a lot shorter and a lot better shaped, the sh*t bits have gone away. You can see in the pic how much he had to remove from the LHS of my toenail. And it nearly didn't hurt, when it did I didn't have to complain, it was only a little

7.00AM...... so in 3 hours I am off to the Day Hospital

AND gosh it went well. My usual teacher is on holiday this week so I had to leave a message about how I was crying.... The stuff that I do seems to be getting easier every week and the stuff with her moving my right hand still hurts

And tonight I tried to print 2 pictures on 1 piece of paper and noticed the bit on the print dialogue which says "Print 1, print 2, print 4, print loads" and can do it now. I think in the past I had been opening pictures in Irfanview then printing rather than clicking "Print" which is why this choosing size of the print is news to me, but I now know how to do it

Properly

Today I was slicing some bread to have at lunchtime. For the first time since my accident I held the bread knife in my right hand and cut it.

Lock Workers (again)

And two lock workers came and REfixed the lock on my door, possibly it's properly fixed now so the other electrical fixer will come out and do more in a couple of days.

But I am a lot more confident about having to lock it from the outside while standing up while getting into my taxi tomorrow

Walkies

So last night I went to bed about midnight with a book to read. After half a chapter I fell asleep. After such a going to sleep night I woke up this morning at 7.30

AND I am still walking everywhere, it is now 2.30

And I am still walking everywhere, it is now nearly 6pm, I have had my dinner, washed up etc all on my feet

BUT I have just noticed that my sink is higher than it used to be, they must have moved it up when they were fixing my leak, but as I am no longer sitting down every time I am there I didn't notice it

Nearly eight now, still walking...

And it is 9.30PM now and I am still walking, at a guess I will continue until I go to bed...

And I am about to go to bed, I will have to walk past my wheelchair that I haven't used at all today

Not Walkies

So today after I came back from Physio I have been wheelchairing, tomorrow is gonna be different, I will get up and walk into the kitchen...

Curry

And I thought this afternoon "What kind of veggieburgers shall I have with my oven chips tonight?". After thinking about this for about 3 minutes I decided "No" and made curry instead, I dunno what it tastes like yet but it looks good ATM

And this morning I am off to Priory Day Hospital for the first time in a week as last Friday I had an assessment here instead

AND I woke up and got up at the scrake of day this morning...

So I turned up at the Day Hospital today, it went as well as can be expected, yes it hurt etc. Then the lady came to take me home. I thought "Shall I have a piss or just go home then have one?". We came half way home then her SatNavc wouldn't find it any more and as we came here a different way than usual I didn't know where we were either. So we stopped while she typed into her SatNav. 3 times. When I was nearly wetting myself. In the end she phoned someone for directions, got here, dropped me off and I wished I could run but just walked quickly into the loo

And today was the first time in 7 years where I was able to climb the steps into a van

And this morning I am not walking as in a bit I will be off to my Physio Class without my wheelchair
